Software Licensing
Licensing Overview
The UBC-GIF group has developed a comprehensive set of Fortran-based forward modeling and inversion software packages that may be acquired through commercial or academic licensing. Software has been compiled to run on Windows and Linux systems. All UBC-GIF codes are provided on an "as-is" basis and licenses not provide explicit access to support or upgrades; except in the event of "bugs" in the software. The entire suite of UBC-GIF codes is tabulated below in the currently licensed software section.
We currently license codes for the following geophysical methods:
- Gravity
- Magnetics (including MVI)
- Direct current resistivity (DCR) and induced polarization (IP)
- Frequency-domain electromagnetic (FDEM)
- Time-domain electromagnetics (TDEM)
- Magnetotellurics (MT)
- Z-axis tipper electromagnetics (ZTEM)
Commercial Licensing: All of the codes tabulated in the software summary below are available through commercial licensing. A commercial license must be purchased for any UBC-GIF software package that is to be used for commercial and/or contracting purposes. Please visit the commercial licensing page for instructions on how to acquire commercially licensed codes.
Academic Licensing: For accredited institutions who wish to use UBC-GIF codes for academic research, we offer free academic licenses for some (not all!!!) of our software packages. Please visit the academic licensing page to see which codes are available for academic licensing and the conditions which must be met.
